Another great day of Blitz at Piermont Chess this Labor Day weekend! 18 players started 9 rounds of G/5+1 by drawing lots for random pairings and went on to compete for 3 hrs playing 81 games.

2025 Piermont Blitz Champ, Ian Dudley, reigned supreme with a perfect score – not only regaining the bragging rights from Danilo, who won a previous Blitz event, but doing it in dramatic style with a Knight & Bishop mate in round 7 with only 12 seconds left.

Josh and Severin split the under 1400 prize marking a successful return to OTB tournaments for Sev, and Josh’s likely transition beyond the U1400 class!

Best under 1000 went to Serena who we all knew was a heavy hitter and now the numbers will reflect that accurately.

Honorable mentions to Tom N for strong play snagging well earned wins from tough opponents, and Julian who came very close to the U1400 prize and played well above his rank beating Austin and drawing with Ali.
